Carbamazepine: Cautions

Store tablets in a dry place, they can be damaged by moisture! Monitor the hemogram and thrombocytes before and during (first 3 to 6 months) the treatment. Withdraw carbamazepine if the leukocytes drop below 3000/mm³.

Monitoring of the plasma levels is advisable (therapeutic levels in the range of 20 to 40 µmol/l) especially if carbamazepine is combined with other antiepileptic agents (possible interactions!) .
