Clotrimazole: Risk Groups

Pregnant women:
In some animal experiments high doses had teratogenic effects. Avoid during the first trimester: It is allowed in the second and third trimester.

Nursing mothers:
In animal experiments clotrimazole was found in the milk after oral administration. There is probably no risk when applied topically.

Children:
Application to skin same as for adults. It used to also be administered orally to children with systemic mycoses.

Elderly people:
No dose adjustment necessary.

Renal failure:
No dose adjustment necessary.

Liver insufficiency:
No dose adjustment necessary.
