women: Little information is available. Does not seem to cause any problems.

Nursing
mothers: Better avoided as there is no reliable information. |

Children:
Avoid in neonates. 1 to 5 years: 2.5 to 5 mg every 6 to 8 hours (maximum daily dose 30 mg); 6 to 12 years: 5 to 15 mg every 6 to 8 hours (maximum daily dose 60 mg). |

Elderly
people: No particular risks are known. |

Renal
failure: The main metabolite dextrorphan is eliminated renally! Therefore a dose reduction may be indicated. |
|
Liver
insufficiency: The consequences of a reduced hepatic metabolism are not known. It is better to reduce the dose. |
