| Imipramine: Risk Groups

Pregnant
women: A connection
to malformations is suspected but not proven. Avoid if possible in the
first trimester.
|
|
Nursing
mothers: Imipramine is eliminated in breast milk: better avoided! |
|
Children:
Do not use before 6 years of age. Initially 10-25 mg in the evenings for enuresis. Daily doses exceeding 3.5 mg/kg only allowed when there is close monitoring.
Accidental taking of several tablets is life threatening in young children! |
|
Elderly
people: Particularly cautious dosage (dangers: orthostatic hypotension, retention of urine, confusion): begin with 50% of the usual adult dose. |
|
Renal
failure: No dose adjustment is necessary. |
|
Liver
insufficiency: Individual dose reduction is recommended. |
