*The duration of treatment is 10 days; Gardnerella vaginoses or amebiases can be treated similarly in 7 days; the dose is smaller for other infections. Short therapies (1-3 days) with higher doses and combinations with vaginal therapies are also possible. Metronidazole can also be given intravenously (e.g. for pre-operative prophylaxis), vaginally, rectally, and topically on the skin (cream, gel).
