Our Comment:
Many specialists recommend using aminoglycosides according to local resistance. If many Gram-negative bacilli are resistant to gentamicin, amikacin is often recommended. However, with respect to tolerance netilmicin produces the best results. According to certain statistics, it has a smaller risk of renal and inner ear damages than other aminoglycosides. Nevertheless, it is still necessary to keep dose and duration of therapy as limited as possible.
