Paracetamol: Risk Groups

Pregnant women:
Can be given. No risks are known in connection with therapeutic doses.

Nursing mothers:
Allowed in therapeutic doses for women who are breast-feeding. Only small concentrations in breast milk.

Children:
Oral dose: 10-12 mg/kg every 4 to 6 hours. Rectally: 15-20 mg/kg/dose. Maximum daily dose: 65 mg/kg.
Child safe storage is indicated because of the considerable danger of intoxication!

Elderly people:
No dose adjustment necessary.

Renal failure:
As a rule, no dose adjustment necessary.

Liver insufficiency:
Dose adjustment is recommended when there is severe insufficiency. The hepatotoxicity of high doses may be reinforced by chronic consumption of alcohol.
