Propranolol: Adverse Reactions

Dangerous reactions (shock, cardiac infarction) may be rare but they are possible in subjects with pre-existing heart disease or when propranolol is withdrawn suddenly. Severe bronchospasms and hypoglycemias have been reported. Amongst the many side-effects that have been observed under propranolol cold extremities, fatigue, gastrointestinal problems (e.g. diarrhea) and impotence are noteworthy. Joint pains, psychiatric alterations, skin problems and Peyronie's disease are rare.

Propranolol: Interactions

Interaction with digitalis or verapamil may provoke a heart block. Propranolol effects are reinforced by cimetidine and fluvoxamin. Propranolol can reinforce the effects of neuroleptic agents and theophylline.
