Our Comment:
If distant metastases of breast cancer appear, unfortunately even tamoxifen cannot heal the disease. Nevertheless, the progress that tamoxifen represents is nothing short of spectacular. With this drug, an adjuvant hormone therapy lasting years can, in most cases, be conducted without significant side-effects. The success of this adjuvant therapy can certainly also be compared to chemotherapies with the same objective. Partially controversial studies on cancer prevention in healthy women are now under way and may draw an even more glorious picture of tamoxifen.
