Our Comment:
Theophylline is still a useful drug for intravenous treatment of severe asthma attacks and oral treatment of carefully chosen asthma patients. The drug requires a very meticulous titration of the dose, careful monitoring of the side-effects, and possibly the determination of plasma levels.
